The EQ on certain tracks in the song were tweaked massively to give the impression that the music is being listened to through a telephone. I think that might be why you think it sounds "quiet".
It was a deliberate choice for a couple of reasons. The first time I played this to someone I played it over the telephone to them. Plus, the song is cruddy and so it deserves cruddy EQ. Finally, it bugs me how most people have to listen to this using a couple of crappy $10 "came-with-the-computer" speakers. So I made this song with that in mind. This song should sound almost as good on $10 speakers as it would if you'd listened to it on a pumping stereo.
I don't think I would turn the vox up any higher... I am a sucky singer and they sound bad enough as it is!
